TransportMe smart card System

It is compulsory for all students, including those receiving STAS funding, to register and use the TransportMe Smartcard system with automatic top-up enabled. All students registered for bus travel will be issued a TransportMe smartcard. These cards will be handed out by the driver.

Once your child has been issued a card, you can set up the profile on the TransportMe app, with the UID number located on the card. You will also be issued a username and password to use when first registering your child/s card/s.

  1. Select “Lonestar Coachlines” from the operator selection.
  2. The app will prompt you to choose routes, however if you do not know your child’s route, you may return to the home page.

On the home page, register your childs smart card by using the unique identification (UID) number on the card and following the prompts. You will then be able to add funds to the card and select automatic top up.

TransportMe smartcards operate in a similar way to Translink GoCards:

  • Funds are loaded onto the smartcard via the TransportMe app.
  • Students tap their card on a reader inside the bus at their pickup location and again at their destination.
  • Any required fare is automatically deducted from the funds on the card.

Special note: Translink GoCards are not accepted on our school bus services.

STAS Bus Application Forms

Below are the eligibility criteria for free or partially subsidised travel:

  • Primary school students must live more than 3.2 km from the nearest state primary school.
  • Secondary school students must live more than 4.8 km from the nearest state secondary school.
  • Non-state school students must live more than the above distances from both the nearest state and non-state school attended.
  • Families who do not meet the distance criteria but hold one of the following cards, with the student listed as a dependent, are eligible for a subsidised fare:
    • Health Care Card (issued by Centrelink)
    • Pensioner Concession Card (issued by Centrelink)
    • DVA Pensioner Card
  •

Completing the form allows us to assess any available subsidies, ensuring you are charged the appropriate fare.

New application forms are required for:

  • New travellers,
  • Students moving from Year 6 to Year 7, and
  • Any students who have changed their address or school

Note: Parents or carers with children in shared care arrangements must submit two separate applications (one for each residential address). This will allow a student to use the school bus service from both addresses.

Student Code Of Conduct

The code of conduct has been produced by Translink and The Queensland Transport Department to set out the expected behaviour of students traveling on buses across the state as well as any consequences should the standard not be met. The code of conduct is in place to keep other passengers and the bus driver safe and comfortable and should be followed at all times.
